The University of West Florida Department of Environmental Studies invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in GIS to support a new online Master of Science in Administration specialization in GIS. The department is particularly interested in applicants with research relevant to, and professional expertise in, the public or private sector, including environmental and natural resource management, urban and regional planning, land management, etc.; applicants with other areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach courses in both GIS content and applications, principally in support of the online MSA Specialization in GIS, a program specifically designed for working GIS professionals, while also leading student-focused research with undergraduate and graduate students and supporting expansion of GIS to UWF academic programs and community partners.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Appointment: August 2015

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

​Preferred Qualifications: PhD in GIS or related Earth or Environmental Science (e.g., Geography, Geology, Urban Planning) with demonstrated professional experience with GIS. Experience with online teaching at university or college level. Expertise in, or demonstrated potential for, professional applications of GIS into public and private sectors.
