FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: 
The GIS Applications Analyst is responsible for analyzing and maintaining maps, data, and reports of web-based GIS applications and is responsible for creating high quality GIS map data for application use. Perform detailed spatial analysis to evaluate and enhance client GIS data.

Essential functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Write and/or present documentation supporting the web-based GIS efforts relating to this position
Analyze complex GIS database models and templates; verify programs for debugged and for accessing, maintaining, linking and populating databases
Utilize a variety of computer software, especially GIS, to reconcile information from the various sources
Produce GIS databases and maps
Review data submittals
Assist with production of high quality maps
Analyze the data based on certain criteria and generate reports that are then used in other projects
Assist with GIS editing, geoprocessing, database creation, and documentation
Assist with GIS modelling and analyses
Assist with miscellaneous GIS and office tasks, as needed

Education- GIS Graduate Certificate; M.S. in GIScience, Geology, Geography, or related discipline recommended. Undergraduate degree involving GIS experience required.

Skills-  GIS analyst/specialist background; Esri app solutions experience; Azure web hosting experience; SQL query and server experience; Python programming and tool development; front-end web development. Excel and Access experience preferred for data management, budgeting, and modeling. Project management experience preferred for understanding/implementing progress tracking solutions; managing program scope/budget; and handling SRF workflows. Content/proposal writing, and copyediting experience preferred for reporting, RFP/RFQ support, and program management documentation.

Experience-  Two to five years of programming experience, web development, project management and or writing/editing experience in a business context. 

Demonstrated ability to use ESRI’s ArcGIS desktop to produce and update datasets, map products, metadata, and summary statistics.
Demonstrates ability to consistently and efficiently follow standard workflows and instructions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to maneuver on foot over rough terrain carrying up to 40 lbs. 

Working conditions:
Typically, the person in this position may sit comfortably to do the work.
​Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities
Occasionally, field visits will require to walk distances and lift up to 50lbs.
