Looking for a  Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst II for Memphis


The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst II Performs a variety of professional duties in support of client and departmental geographic information systems (GIS) databases and GIS capabilities; generates custom and standard maps, spatial analyses and other GIS products to meet customer requirements; utilizes GIS tools and utilities to convert data to GIS formats and performs data quality checking and correction.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Generates GIS spatial data using GPS and other data collection methods for base layer development
  • Coordinates with project managers to determine the most efficient and effective methods
  • Analyzes GIS data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data
  • Reviews existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation
  • Working understanding of various data conversion to be used in a standardized system
  • Develops and maintains detailed metadata for new and existing datasets.
  • Designs  grant projects and provides technical descriptions including budgets for grant applications and grant reporting
  • Coordinates and participates with government agencies, community leaders, special interest groups, committees, and contractors during the project planning process
  • Responds to client questions regarding GIS services and/or methodology
  • Trains and supervises the work of GIS Technician I and II and Analyst I
  • Plans training events which may include planning of logistics and budgets
  • Supports colleagues in the use of GIS systems and datasets


An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:
 
  • Associates’ degree in Geography, Natural Resource Management, or related field with a working understanding of ArcGIS desktop WITH eight years of ArcGIS desktop experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Natural Resource Management, or related field with a working understanding of ArcGIS desktop WITH fix years of ArcGIS desktop experience OR
  • Graduate degree in Geography, Natural Resource Management, or related field with a working understanding of ArcGIS desktop WITH four years of ArcGIS desktop experience
  • ESRI Certifications
  • GISP Registration
  • Possession of a valid state issued Driver's License and required auto insurance
