Keynote

Dr. Qiusheng Wu

Dr. Qiusheng Wu an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is also an Amazon Visiting Academic and a Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Earth Engine. His research interests include geospatial data science, remote sensing, and environmental modeling. Dr. Wu is particularly interested in utilizing big geospatial data and cloud computing (e.g., Google Earth Engine, Microsoft Planetary Computer, Amazon Web Services) to study environmental change, especially surface water and wetland inundation dynamics. His research has been funded by NASA, USDA, and the Department of Defense. Dr. Wu is an advocate of open science and reproducible research, having developed and published various open-source packages for advanced geospatial analysis and data visualization, such as geemap, leafmap, lidar, and segment-geospatial.

Exploring QGIS 9:00 am ET – 12:00 ET – Instructor—Randy Hale
This 3 hour workshop is designed to introduce you to QGIS 3.28, an Open Source GIS desktop for viewing, editing, and managing spatial data in a wide variety of commonly used vector and raster formats. It is lightweight, flexible, and can be installed on Windows, MacOSX, and Linux. This will get you familiar with the interface and many tools and features that will assist you with viewing, editing, analyzing, creating, managing, and serving GIS data in a variety of formats.

Transitioning Web Apps to Esri's Experience Builder 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Instructor- Nyssa Hunt

Do you have GIS data that you want to share with others online? Are you looking for a way to transform your web maps into a new interactive experience? For years, Esri's Web App Builder has been a viable solution for creating web applications for organizations and the public to use. With Experience Builder, we can take our applications and data to a new level! This 3 hour workshop will dive into getting started with Experience Builder, identifying how to use widgets and prepare them, and ensure how to make web applications user-friendly. You will have the chance to work with your own data within the lab space, along with some suggested examples from the instructor.
